WHO ARE AUCTION NET AND WHY IS THE TRAVELLERS CLUB THEIR CHOICE OF VENUE?

The call came in from the amazing folks at Auctionet looking for a professional and reliable Event Photographer. The two things that always amaze me are that these are two things not easy to find. Add on ‘reasonably priced’ and ‘good’ and you could be looking for a needle in a haystack.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m not cheap, and I’m not big-headed. But I do really love my job, so I am dedicated and I don’t add on charges or push my prices crazy high.

But you came here to find out about Europe’s leading online auction house, a place where you can buy anything from Ed Sheeran’s budgie-smugglers to a Ming vase.About Auctionet

Their motto is “We help new owners inspire new life into old items"

We are a marketplace where auction houses from all over Europe sell furniture, art, design items, collectibles and more.

The items are sold at online auction, much like eBay, but with a significant difference: all items are carefully inspected, described and photographed by experts, so you can bid with confidence. Guaranteed!

Buying at auction is smart, both for your wallet and for the environment. You can find interesting items to personalize your home – paying less than you would for something mass-produced. And if you choose to sell it again later, you're likely to get what you paid, or more.

We bring local auction houses to the global market: you can bid on unique items from a small auction house in southern Germany, or the north of Sweden, in the same way. Before you bid, you can see our fixed transport costs to anywhere in the world. After you win, you pay securely on Auctionet.com. If you have any questions, you can always call or email our multilingual support.

And the Travellers Club?

This venerable, gorgeous venue and memberss club was founded in 1819, 'for gentlemen who had travelled out of the British Isles to a distance of at least five hundred miles from London in a direct line'. Membership was extended to foreign visitors and diplomats posted to London.

The original concept of The Club dates from the return to peace in Europe following the Napoleonic Wars. The founders  envisaged a club where gentlemen who travelled abroad might meet and offer hospitality to distinguished foreign visitors. Arrangements for the establishment of The Club were finalised at a meeting in the spring of 1819, attended by distinguished diplomats, travellers and two future Prime Ministers (the Earl of Aberdeen and Viscount Palmerston).

As you can see, the rooms are adorned with beautiful oil paintings and lined with wonderful books and furniture. There is a wonderful light fall off, which is a joy for any professional photographer, and the staff, service and ambience is sophistication personified.
